The question has been asked. How do you eat an elephant? The answer is one bite at a time.
The adage is such that it speaks to a multitude of different situations in our lives. There is within us the predisposition to view a challenge or a goal from the perspective of successfully achieving our goal in manners that are all consuming. All consuming in the respect of it happening at one time. This much is certain when it comes to life. The journey is not going to be a sprint; it will in fact be a marathon. Even as we travel down this road called life, we are called to be reminded of the reality that things will not happen according to our schedule. Nor will they fall into timelines that we deem as absolute. Though at times we do feel a certain level of frustration as to what takes longer than we expect, there is from the longer perspective the benefit of gaining experience from the process, growing in wisdom from what we have endured, and recognizing that the trying of our faith is burnished in ways that prepare us for those future moments that are guaranteed to come forth.  One bite at a time. For the here and now it is factual, and for the here and that which is to come a promise of things that await us.
