We are in that time of the year. The Christmas season. That time of the year when across the world people are preparing for that special day.
Even with the presence of different religious faiths and beliefs there is if nothing else a different vibe that is in the air the closer we get to Christmas day itself.
With the Christmas season comes of course the pressures of the expectations. Pressures that can if we are not careful push us to the point of feeling over stressed and wondering at times what exactly is the point of all this.
I can remember what the elders used to say. They used an acronym: WRI. What’s Really Important?
W.R.I. Each of us are called to identify what it is that is important to us. During this season there is an opportunity for us to stop and reflect on our own W.R.I.
Is it the presence of family? For some they will say yes. Is it the blessing of working towards the achievement of goals and aspirations? Some will say absolutely. Or is it the fact that you have made to this point of the year safely? I would submit to all of us that is something to be grateful for.
This much is true. Our W.R.I. isn’t just for us alone. When we are embracing our blessings then as well there is the charge to share with others. It may be by the process of sharing that we encourage others. We are positioning ourselves to bring hope when some may only see despair.
There is another old saying by the elders as well. “To whom much is given, much is required.”
Give, share, and encourage. For through this what stands is to connect with W.R.I. and to establish the realness of What’s Really Important.
