The Holy Bible shares the story of Moses in his quest to free his people. The challenge of course was great. In reading the story we find that at one point Moses and the Israelites were pressed against the Red Sea.
At first glance it certainly appeared that they were trapped and had no way out. I must imagine that panic set in quickly. But as the story goes God at what must have seemed the very last second provided them with a passage to safety.
In thinking about this story what comes to mind is what happens during those times of our own Red Sea moments.
Moments when it would seem that we are backed into situations that would seem to leave us with no way out. No solution as such. How do we respond in such moments?
This much is a guarantee. If you live long enough, you are going to have Red Sea moments. The truth of the matter is that all of us are going to have more Red Sea moments than we care to think about.
Such moments will call us to I believe to be still and lean on our faith. Faith that leads us to believe that somehow some way things are going to work. Faith that says to us that even in the midst of all that is happening, I’m still believing that I’m going to come out on the other side.
Each day is a challenge. Each day is going to find us going through the ups and downs. Each day will at times push us to our very limits.
But the choice is going to come down to us. Are we to be among the many that are given to stop in their tracks and wait for impending doom? Or are we to be a part of the few who say come what may I will continue to press forward in faith and commit to stay the course and emerge not defined by the struggle but refined by all that I have endured.
Our present stands as the moments that challenge us, and our future and legacies will reflect the paths that we followed.
