At this point in 2023 we can say that we have gone beyond the halfway point. Time once again proves it does not hold any regard for how we feel about it. This much we know about time; it does not discriminate. It treats each of us fairly in its march ever forward.
Each of us I am going to hazard a guess began 2023 with thoughts and plans for how this year would unfold. Thoughts and plans that we envisioned would lead us onto new paths.
Life has shown us repeatedly that at times the best made plans don’t always come to fruition. Such is the nature of this thing we call life.
What stands then is our response to those occasions when our plans do not go as we planned. As such I refer to them as The Why or Why Not.
The Why can and will find us seeking to determine the source of why our plans went astray. Our Why can lead us into self-reflection, self-analysis and as well self-doubt. The humanness that exists within us finds each of us at times venturing into the aforementioned.
Why can if we are not careful lure us into positions of stagnation. Stagnation that my cause us to stop in our tracks. This much is true. Stagnation often results in our nothing costing us plenty.
Though we may be tempted to remain in essence in neutral there is if we indeed are committed to fulfilling our goals the perspective of Why Not.
Why Not continue to press on despite setbacks. Setbacks which we designate as temporary. Why not reminds us that the journey was never promised to be easy.
Why not when it’s all said and done refutes any momentary thoughts of stopping. Why not by our words and deeds continue to reach for the stars that stand above us and move upwards toward the highest prize that awaits us.
