I’m sure I am not the only one who has uttered this thought from time to time. “Where did the time go?”
As for me, I have during the course of this year asked that question on numerous occasions. To be honest it seems like January 1st was only a few weeks ago.
Growing up I heard on a regular basis the elders talking about time itself. There were ongoing conversations that always for whatever reason came back to one phrase in particular; “In the Blink of an Eye.”
Each of us on this journey that we call life is dealing with time. Time as such is both a constant and a variable.
Constant in the respect that it has been and always will be a major player in our lives. Variable in the respect that it changes in its nature and make up that reflects the current events within our lives.
Time it has been said is that one thing that can never be recaptured. Money can be here today and gone tomorrow. But there still is the possibility of replacing even a portion of it.
As life moves forward there comes with it a greater appreciation of time itself. “In the Blink of an Eye.”
Yesterday I was running around on a playground. Today I am sitting in meetings going over budgets. Yesterday I was thinking about what kind of summer vacation I might enjoy. Today I’m hoping to have a vacation of some sort.
Such is the nature and journey that we are undertaking.
What perhaps stands as a question that each of us must answer is as follows; what are we doing with the time that we are blessed with?
Time’s presence is a gift; let’s never lose sight of that. With such a gift how are we making the most of it?
The dreams that you have, are you pursuing them? The memories to be made, are you committed to making them come true?
In the Blink of an eye, we look up and see how late it is. Not merely by virtue of the yearly calendar but as much as anything how quickly we arrived at various points in our lives.
Oh, how often have each of us come to this realization.
Time moves forward. It doesn’t seek our approval nor is it considerate of our desires to slow down.
In the Blink of an eye. What then shall each of us say when that moment of clarity arrives? How have we embraced and made the most of the precious gift?
Our answers are reflective of the choices that we made, and as well impacting of the legacy that we have established and seek to leave to others.
