We joined network marketing ventures to make some passive income, but as much as I did not walk away with passive income, I walked away motivated to continuously develop myself personally and professionally. One thing they emphasised in all the businesses I joined was to listen to tapes then for those who were successful in the business. Networking conferences were held on regular basis, and they would invest in a renowned motivational speaker who would passionately motivate us to embrace the challenges that came with selling and trying to grow our teams. They encouraged reading books of successful people and those in the business.

I recall the day we were at our managers house, and we were playing monopoly. Learning and growing is necessary if one is to reach their full potential in their business. I have learnt more from networking meetings and workshops I attended than what I learnt at university. I studied bachelor’s in accounting Honors, but it was when I started to host different speakers who spoke on investment and finance on the Facebook live shows we do on our page “The dream that was worth fighting for” that I appreciated what I learnt in Finance in college. I heard a speaker saying that they went into a bookshop in America and bought books worth $9000 and the owner of the bookshop asked him whether he owned a bookshop, and he said it was for his personal development. I read also that most Billionaires read a book every week including Warren Buffet. Continuous development is not an option but a must if you need to achieve your full potential.” Warren Buffet stated.

Are you too busy to attend that business workshop? These days with YouTube and Facebook live or podcasts one can still invest in themselves without spending a lot of money in case that is the excuse. Information is available and one must create the time. One thing they encouraged at network marketing meetings was to listen to tapes whilst driving. This would help you spend the time on the road positively.

“You cannot put a limit on how much you can improve and how much you can do. There are no limits on what you can be, or what you can do, except the limits you place on yourself.” – Brian Tracy

The more you get to improve yourself the more you realize how much you do not know, and you need to invest in self-development.” Everybody’s got a different circle of competence. The important thing is not how big the circle is. The important thing is staying inside the circle.”

What is your excuse in investing in yourself and your business on personal and professional development? We all have 24 hours if the billionaires as busy as they can set aside time to read a book every week, it is a challenge to all of us.  You can be mentored by someone you have never met but following them online. Some say if people do not pay they pay less attention but if they pay more they pay more attention. The choice is yours whether you pay for it or do not pay for it but Brian Tracey states, “The future belongs to the competent. Get good, get better and be the best.”
