As we are now entering the last two months of this year, I am reminded of the efforts of a track athlete who is coming down the home stretch.
There is I am sure a sense of fatigue as it relates to the previous distance that has been covered. There is also a sense that even amid the physical stress that has been endured still there is the mindset that there is just a little further to go.
At the point where the greater is behind and the lesser is what remains then the battle is as much in the mind as it is in the body. The goal of getting to the finish line is what is paramount. It is the point of completion and the accomplishment of the journey.
Just as it is with that track athlete then so it must be as well with each of us as we are coming down the home stretch of this current year. What is behind us is what we have completed and accomplished. What remains before us is the culmination of what our race has been about.
Yes, the body and spirit may be weary, and yes there may even be thoughts that I’m not sure I can make it.
But what drives us is that which is within each of us. That certain something that says I’ve come too far to stop, I’ve come this far to make it to the finish line.
The finish line represents not just the completion of the race but as well is an affirmation that what lies within us is that which we will continue to draw from as we move on to the next challenge and or race to our next finish line.
The Finish Line. Not just merely the end point but the reminder that there is and will be the next finish line that awaits us. Doing us in as a way means bringing to the surface the best that lies within and that the future that awaits us does so with expectations of success that are beckoning us to continue onward and upward.
